WICHITA, KAN. — Local nonprofit Goodwill Industries of Kansas (GWKS) is bringing thrifting, giving, and community impact to the heart of Wichita with the announcement of its newest retail store in Downtown Wichita.
The new store will be located at 126 N. St. Francis, occupying approximately 5,000 square feet on the first floor of the building. Renovations will be led by Hutton Construction, with the store expected to open this fall.
The Downtown Wichita location marks an exciting milestone for GWKS as its first urban-setting store, expanding access to convenient shopping and donating opportunities while generating support for life-changing programs across Kansas.
“We have been looking for a downtown location for years to expand our footprint and raise funds for Goodwill’s mission services, like our adult education program and day services program for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities,” said Laura Ritterbush, Goodwill Industries of Kansas President and CEO. “This space aligned with what we needed in both size and location, and we are excited to become part of the energy and momentum happening in downtown Wichita.”
Designed with downtown shoppers, residents, and visitors in mind, the store will primarily feature clothing and accessories, along with a smaller selection of housewares, shoes, and furniture. Donations will also be accepted on-site, giving community members an easy way to support Goodwill’s mission while decluttering their homes.
More than just a retail store, the new downtown location will help fuel Goodwill’s mission of changing lives through the power of work. Revenue generated through donations and purchases directly supports programs that help Kansans build skills, earn credentials, find employment, and gain greater independence. In 2025 alone, GWKS delivered more than 18,000 program services to individuals across the state.
“Every donation dropped off, and every purchase made in our stores helps create opportunities for people in our community,” Ritterbush said. “This new location gives more people a chance to shop with purpose, donate with impact, and be part of work that changes lives.”
A grand opening celebration will be announced in the coming months. In the meantime, shoppers and donors are encouraged to follow @goodwillks on social media and visit www.goodwillks.org for updates, store information, donation guidelines, and details about GWKS mission services.
