Families are strongest when they have access to support before challenges become crises. That’s why the Kansas Department for Children and Families (DCF) is investing in Family Resource Centers across the state, providing resources that help families thrive while reducing the need for more intensive system involvement.
Through a statewide grant investment of $1,101,905, DCF is supporting 10 Family Resource Centers that connect families with parenting education, child and youth development opportunities, and physical and mental health resources. These community-based centers make it easier for families to access the support they need, often at little or no cost.
As part of this initiative, Goodwill Industries of Kansas has been awarded funding to serve families in 67217 and 67204 area codes, helping ensure local families can access services designed to build resilience, strengthen relationships, and promote long-term stability.
“This grant will allow us to meet families where they are and support parents as they work toward a better future for themselves and their children. At Goodwill, we know that when parents have access to education, skills training, and workforce opportunities, the impact reaches far beyond the individual – it strengthens entire families,” said Goodwill Industries of Kansas President/CEO Laura Ritterbush. “These Family Resource Centers will help remove barriers, connect parents to the tools they need to succeed, and create pathways to stable employment. By empowering parents today, we’re helping ensure brighter, more secure futures for the next generation of Kansans.”
