Goodwill Industries of Kansas has purchased property in northeast Wichita and will soon begin construction on its newest retail store. The acquisition of the land was facilitated by ReeceNichols South Central Kansas and is located near 29th & Greenwich road. The 2.2 acre property will be home to a 25,000 sq. ft. facility with a 12,000 sq. ft. sales floor designed by Schaefer Johnson Cox Frey Architecture.

“This area of the city is experiencing a tremendous amount of growth so it makes perfect sense for us to place a retail store and donation center in this rapidly expanding area,” said Laura Ritterbush, President and CEO of Goodwill Industries of Kansas.

The addition of the new retail store will allow Goodwill Industries of Kansas to generate the funds necessary to support the expansion of mission services like NexStep Alliance. Earlier this year, Goodwill partnered with Empower, Inc. to provide GED instruction and ESL classes through NexStep Alliance at the newly renovated Evergreen Community Center and Library.

Once the new retail store is open, customers can expect a whole new experience when they visit. “We’re in the process of updating the look and feel of our next generation of stores, one that draws a clear line connecting the purchases and donations our customers make, and the community impact our mission provides to our territory,” said Vice President of Retail, Angela Bascue.

Goodwill will hold a groundbreaking ceremony at a date to be determined and construction is expected to begin this Fall.
