Project SEARCH

Helping People with Disabilities Explore Career Options

Adults with disabilities learn job skills and explore careers that will lead to competitive employment through a seven-month internship with a local business.

About the Program

Goodwill participates in Project SEARCH programs for high school seniors and adults with developmental disabilities. The student program is a collaboration of the Sedgwick County Developmental Disabilities Organization (SCDDO), USD 259 and Vocational Rehabilitation. Its focus is to develop job skills that lead to career exploration by placing the participants in an internship with local businesses.

Goodwill is also serving as the lead agency for a new Project SEARCH program – with a focus on adults with disabilities. Working with a host business, WSU Tech, Department of Commerce and Vocational Rehabilitation, the seven-month program will assist adults with developmental disabilities in learning job skills and career exploration that leads to competitive integrated employment.
