A Bold Look

I love putting together bold outfit combos especially when I can find pieces that I can wear across seasons. Sometimes when I’m thrifting I’m looking with something specific in mind, other times I’m just looking to see which colors or prints draw my eye. My favorite thing is when I’m doing the latter and end up finding something goes perfectly with something that I’ve previously thrifted! Such was the case on a recent shopping run at Goodwill in Andover where I found a perfect completing piece for a look I had been building for some time.

While shopping at Goodwill’s Andover location I saw this sleeveless, bold print duster that I thought would be a great wardrobe addition. It has several colors incorporated and I thought I could wear it with so many different things. I also thought the weight of the fabric was easy-breezy for summer, but the color combos would work with fall wardrobe pieces as well. At $3.99 this multi-seasonal layer was absolutely going home with me!

When I got the duster home, I realized that the red in the print matched almost perfectly with another one of my thrifted finds from Goodwill in Derby, this red, silky, pleated maxi skirt ($5.99)! I thrifted this skirt way back in February for an event and didn’t end up wearing it. Since then, I had been on the fence about re-donating it because the fit at the waist is a little weird. Thankfully not only did my duster coordinate with the skirt, it also covers up the weird waist situation at the back of the skirt!

I also have a basic black cropped tank that I thrifted a while back at Goodwill Derby for $1.99 which has been an absolute wardrobe staple to pair with high-waisted bottoms. I decided to pair that with the skirt and duster to pull the outfit together and to add a grounding piece with the bold red skirt and bold printed duster.

I polished off the look with a $1.99 necklace find from Goodwill K96 and Oliver with a gilded bolo tie feel and a multi-faceted acrylic gem. My favorite part is that with a few adjustments (tights, ankle boots, and perhaps a faux leather jacket), I can easily make this look work for fall as well! All told this full outfit (shoes not included) cost me less than $13 with my preferred customer 10% discount (don’t forget it’s 20% on Wednesdays)! Happy Hunting!
