The temperature dropped! Pumpkin spice is everywhere! This means the best fall fashion splashes across your Instagram feeds, TikTok FYP, and celebrity spotting’s via paparazzi photos. But those high-end looks often come with a hefty price tag, and knock-offs come with uncertain sustainability.
It is possible to look your best, wear the latest fashion, and save money without buying fast fashion when you shop secondhand. When the temps drop, I do what I love the most – shop at my local Goodwill to grab gorgeous fall pieces to update my existing wardrobe.
Steps to finding the best of fall at Goodwill:
Shop in color blocks! I’m a fan of burgundy, purple, and gold for fall. I scan the racks, often ignoring size, to see what colors I want to enhance my closet.
Find texture! Tweed, denim, velvet, and silky fabrics are super this fall – grab something unique and try it in the dressing rooms.
I love shopping in the men’s department for unexpected finds like this cute sweater vest. It has a perfect slouchy look and great texture. It’s a layering piece for warmer fall days in September through Christmas. (Imagine it layered with a green turtleneck for an ugly sweater party!)
You can’t go wrong with a great pair of jeans. I know my size before I go in, so I can easily hunt through the racks for what will work. My favorite brands like American Eagle and Levi’s usually wait for me – below $10!
The dress section is my favorite. I always find something I love there, and this time was no exception. This mustard dress would be so cute layered with tights and boots. I can’t wait to wear this one!
I have a few fall weddings coming up, and this silver velvet dress might be making its debut at them! You don’t have to dig a lot to find fabulous dresses, but sometimes you do have to ignore your size and shop the whole rack.
Florals for fall? Absolutely! It’s all about the color choices. I would pair this American Eagle jumpsuit with a jean jacket and this black and crimson dress with my favorite black booties.
Vintage is my jam – and every time I come to Goodwill, I find the cutest pieces. This little jumper is handmade. I can tell by the stitching! I also found a $5 silk vintage blouse. I’m completely decked out in Goodwill when I pair it with my new jeans and a mustard cardigan!
