Going for the Gold: Team Kansas

Brandi Fogg is a level III fabricator at Goodwill Industries of Kansas’ home office in our Industrial Services Department. She works on one of our major aviation contracts and comes to work every day with a great attitude. But, did you know that Brandi is also an accomplished athlete? She has the hardware to prove it!

Brandi enjoys many sports, but the sport she loves the most is tennis. She started playing about six years ago. According to her, she was looking for a springtime sport that she could enjoy while not involved with other seasonal-based sports.

In June 2022, Brandi was chosen to represent Team Kansas at the 2022 Special Olympics USA Games in Orlando, Florida. Brandi joined more than 5,500 athletes and coaches from all 50 states and the Caribbean.1 Brandi competed in Singles and Mixed Doubles Tennis, she brought home a bronze medal in Mixed Doubles and a gold medal in Singles! Saying that Brandi represented Kansas well is an understatement.

She was one of 33 Kansas athletes to take part in by Textron Aviation’s Special Olympics Airlift, where she flew on a private aircraft to the games and was featured in Textron Aviation’s advertisements!2 Brandi was then able to enjoy some time at Magic Kingdom Park, and a private family night party at the Animal Kingdom. All of the athletes were given an official pin from their home state and were able to exchange and collect them during their stay. “It was one of the best experiences that I have ever had,” Brandi stated.

She enjoyed her time at the games this past year and is proud to be a winner, “the next one is in Berlin, and I am ready for that!”
