Fall into Winter

image description

Autumn is hands down my favorite season of all the seasons; not too hot, not to cold, perfect reading/snuggling weather! Unfortunately for me, Fall doesn’t seem to last too long around here (Kansas weather, am I right?). As such, it’s important for me to find wardrobe pieces that I can transition from Autumn into the colder Winter months as well, and luckily, Goodwill has me covered (pun intended).

Pants are an easy go-to for me when I’m trying to stay warm, but I’m particular about style/fit. Jeans are the obvious choice, but I love a good ponte knit as well. It’s soft and comfy like leggings, but provides a little more structure, coverage, and warmth as well. As I was browsing the aisles of the Andover Goodwill, I spotted a pair of like-new, plaid, ponte knit pixie pants. I’m a little taller than average for a woman at 5ft 9ish, so pixie pants can be a hard fit for me as they are meant to stop at the ankle. These thankfully fit quite well and feel like I’m wearing regular leggings which I love! I also think the burgundy plaid works well for both fall and winter! Priced at $5.99 AND in great condition, I knew I was definitely taking these babies home with me.

On another shopping trip (this time to the Derby Goodwill location), I found a cute curly shearling style sweater vest. I have a love hate relationship with sweaters in general; I love being warm and comfortable but get overheated really easy in them sometimes. A cozy sweater vest is the perfect resolution to this as it’s a nice happy medium. I thought the cream color made it a great neutral choice to add to my wardrobe, and it was only $3.99 before my preferred shopper’s discount!

Finding clothing that fits the bill of being functional (in this case warm enough for the winter but not too warm for fall) and cost effective has been a breeze with Goodwill, and I’m excited to see what other finds I can scout out! Until next time, happy hunting!
