Goodwill seeks Community Support to Provide Food to Hungry

WICHITA, KAN. – Goodwill Industries of Kansas stores across the state will accept nonperishable food donations June 17 – 30 to help restock shelves of local food banks. Food donations can be made at the donation door or at the register inside the store during regular business hours at any of the 19 stores. Those who will contribute will be given a coupon for 10% off their entire in-store purchase.

“When we learned that food donations in summer months are inadequate, especially at a time when children are out of school, we decided to help,” Goodwill Industries’ Vice President of Marketing & Development Molly Fox said. “With 19 locations, it occurred to us that we can make a real impact in communities state-wide. Our shoppers are so generous – I have a feeling they will help us pack local pantries!”

Food will be distributed to food banks and churches in the community in which they are donated. Most stores are open Monday – Saturday, 9 a.m – 8 p.m. and Sunday, 1 – 6 p.m. Hours vary at Goddard and Great Bend locations. Find a complete list of participating locations and store hours at goodwillks.org/locations.

WHY: Goodwill Gives Back

Most Food Drives take place leading up to the winter holidays, but summer is also a time of need for many area families.

In order to help fill the gap and give back to the communities that support our mission, Goodwill stores are acting as a drop-off location for nonperishable food items and giving them to your local food bank.
