Growing and Thriving

When Rebecca Eden stepped through the doors of Goodwill in October of 2020, her heart was pounding with excitement and apprehension. It was the first day of her first job.

As the hours flew by, Rebecca was introduced to her responsibilities as a sales associate but also became aware of the mission of Goodwill Industries of Kansas. “Goodwill’s ultimate goal is to help people, and I loved that,” said Eden.

Rebecca grew comfortable with her job and began to seek out new challenges. Her supervisors took note of her interests and provided cross-training opportunities that lead her to Goodwill’s E-commerce department, ShopGoodwill. She learned new skills in inventory management, jewelry photography and logistics.

Rebecca wanted to continue working for Goodwill but also knew that her career interests would require continuing education. She enrolled at a nearby community college to complete her associate degree in accounting with the intention to transfer to a university to complete her masters degree.

Through hard work and Goodwill’s commitment to helping individuals reach their highest potential, Rebecca has joined the accounting department and currently serves as a Payroll Clerk.

A first job for anyone is memorable, but for Rebecca a first job with an opportunity to grow and thrive is unforgettable.
