I’m not a parent, but I take my auntie duties very seriously when it comes to my younger sister’s kids. My sister’s eldest kiddo is a budding fashionista, so I had to make sure I picked up some goodies at Goodwill to send her into first grade in style!
Since it’s still going to be warm when school starts, I focused on finding some cropped denim, fun graphic tees, and a lightweight dress! The dress I found at Goodwill Derby for $2.99 is a great potential first-day of school look! The deep mustard base color and soft florals make it a nice piece that could work for the end of this summer season and for autumn. She put it together with her favorite white summer sandals and her backpack (we’re not quite ready for jewelry yet but auntie is excited to teach her the art of accessorizing lol). My favorite part of the dress is a cute little ruffle detail in the middle and on the cuffs of the dress; so fun!
Another Goodwill Derby find that we loved was a pair of cute, cropped jeggings that have a special embroidered floral detail lining the pockets. It adds a fun flair to basic denim that I think very much reflects Ava’s personal style (and yes, my 6-year-old niece has a personal style, try getting her into something she doesn’t like and that much is clear haha)! We paired these jeggings with two fun graphic tees both $1.99 each from Goodwill Derby as well. Both tops feature a cute design, a hint of sparkle, and a cute tie detail (I’m sensing a trend in Ava’s picks; she’s all about the details)! We got a short sleeve and a long sleeve option, and both can be worn multi-seasonally!
Every time I go shopping at Goodwill, I have to check out the kids clothes for my nieces and nephew because there are always such great, affordable options! I often find stuff with brand new tags as well and usually, I’m not spending more than $1.99 per piece unless it’s something like a dress or jacket (which at $2.99 is still a steal). As you’re gearing up for back-to-school shopping, swing by your local Goodwill, you never know what you might find. Happy Hunting!
