Spring Goodwill Looks, Based On “Elle Magazine”

Hello, Goodwill friends! Even though Kansas winters can be a tad bit bleak, they do make for great shopping trips! This month, I shopped the stores with spring in mind. I decided it would be a fun challenge to take some tips from “Elle Magazine” on the 2019 spring runway fashion trends and see if I could put together a few looks that embraced the fads of the season on a budget.

First trend, marigold. According to “Elle,” it will be the favorite color for Spring 2019 fashion. I searched the racks for this pretty color and found a soft, velvet pleated skirt that was the perfect match. After I tried a few different tops with it, I decided to get a little creative, and pull the skirt up to wear as a dress. I added a fitted denim jacket to give the look more shape and paired it with a bright purple pair of flats! I know the color combo is a little stark, but sometimes you just have to let your inner artist play a little!

The next trend challenge from the runway was bright neon. It always feels like an intimidating look to pull off, so I went for a more toned down ensemble with just a touch of neon. I started with a cozy pair of dark washed skinny jeans, added some shiny black heels and then paired it with a flowy blouse with just a little bit of neon accent. Because it’s still a little unpredictably chilly during Kansas winters, I finished the look with a cuffed jacket that made this look feel polished!

The final look was probably my favorite – matchy-matchy is a thing this year, guys! Yay! For this look, I started with a flowy, romantic  spring dress and paired it with a matching clutch. I could have gone the whole nine yards and added in the red shoes, but I loved these brown strappy stilettos so much, I went with them instead. You have to make fashion trends your own, right?

I can guarantee one thing for sure about this shopping challenge, I paid a lot less for my fashion runway looks than you would find from any designer rack. That’s the great thing about Goodwill! Happy spring shopping my fellow fashionistas!
