David has always dreamed of a life filled with music, entertainment, and making people happy, one day hoping to live and work at Disneyland. While that dream is still ahead, his journey with Goodwill shows how big goals can be reached through patience, support, and steady progress.
David came to Goodwill through our Day Services program with limited work experience. Together, we focused on building his self-direction, job skills, and professional confidence. Through hands-on learning, repetition, and encouragement, he developed the ability to prioritize tasks, stay motivated, accept feedback, and work effectively as part of a team.
“Goodwill was very patient, kind, and thought about what was good for me, but still let me have a say in what was being done,” said David.
David participated in the Adult Project SEARCH program and later transitioned to Vocational Rehabilitation for supported employment, choosing Goodwill as his service provider. In 2022, with support from our Community Employment Team, David attended a citywide job fair at Intrust Bank Arena. His enthusiasm and personality stood out, and he was hired on the spot for a guest services position.
Today, he is a valued member of the Guest Experience team at Intrust Bank Arena, greeting guests, scanning tickets, and creating a welcoming environment. His confidence and professionalism have earned him peer nominations for the Arena’s “Rockstar Award”. One of his favorite events is Disney on Ice, where he gets to share his love of Disney with guests.
When he was asked what he wants others to know about Goodwill, he replied, “Goodwill is a happy place with caring people. They teach you never to give up!”
