Each year during the first full week of May, Goodwill agencies across the country celebrate Goodwill Week. This is an opportunity to showcase the work Goodwill does in our communities through our mission services while also showing appreciation to customers and team members who make our mission possible.
On Tuesday, May 5, the Wichita City Council issued a proclamation establishing May 3-9, 2026 as Goodwill Week. Members of the leadership team went to City Hall to accept the proclamation and give a few remarks.
Later that day, the Goodwill team hosted an open house at the 29th & Greenwich store. Guests could enter to win a $25 voucher to come back and shop, get tours of the store and the warehouse, learn about Goodwill’s mission services, and enjoy food and drinks from Argentina’s Empanadas and Tickled Pink Drinks.
On Thursday, May 7, four Goodwill stores held a social media scavenger hunt. Four small Goodwill shopping carts with Goodwill gift cards were hidden in four random stores. Clues online led treasure seekers to the Derby, Newton, Winfield, and Twin Lakes (Wichita) stores where the carts were found.
Throughout the week, Goodwill staff participated in staff spirit days, which included Decades Day and Kansas Pride Day. Of course, a ton of royal blue was worn throughout the week.
On social media, we shared some of our favorite recent spotlight stories to showcase some of the incredible work by our employees, like David and Stacy.
Thank you all for continuing to support Goodwill Industries of Kansas’s mission by shopping and donating at your favorite Goodwill store. If you’re interested in donating gently used clothing or our housewares, click here to learn more.
