WICHITA, KAN. — On Tuesday, Feb. 25, Goodwill Industries of Kansas held a renovation celebration for its Andover retail store. The event marked the end of a major renovation effort, which included new interior and exterior paint, interior flooring and racks, enhanced lighting, and a new exterior digital sign.
Several members of the Andover Area Chamber of Commerce, as well as Goodwill team members, and shoppers gathered for a ceremonial ribbon cutting.
“Thank you to our valued shoppers, donors, and community partners—you make our mission possible. Every visit, every donation, and every purchase fuels our mission to transform lives and communities through the power of education, training, and development. Or as we like to say, we are more than just a thrift store,” said Laura Ritterbush, President/CEO of Goodwill Industries of Kansas.
Ritterbush reinforced the connection between Goodwill’s retail stores and Goodwill’s efforts to transform lives through education, training, and employment. In 2024, Goodwill provided over 4,500 services such as job skills training, adult education classes, and resume assistance to those in the greater Wichita area and beyond.
Andover Area Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Lori Cullum championed Goodwill’s mission work and the impact it has on the local community.
“Goodwill is a powerful force for good in our community and they’re committed to helping everyone realize their fullest potential… what makes Goodwill truly unique is that their mission is funded by shoppers and donors and approximately 90 cents of every dollar goes directly back into life-transforming services,” said Cullum.
During this event, Goodwill reminded its fellow chamber members, community members, and local business owners that in addition to normal shopping and donating, they also offer the Dell ReConnect program. This free resource provides a safe and secure way to recycle old electronics like laptops, cell phones, or tablets. This service is available at all 21 Goodwill Industries of Kansas locations.
The Andover store is located at 415 S. Andover Rd., Andover, Kan. For more information on all locations click here.
