WICHITA, KAN. — Goodwill Industries of Kansas is excited to announce the grand opening of its newest retail store at 5455 E Central, the site of the former Disabled American Veterans (DAV) retail location. The remodeled store was designed by Galloway & Company Architecture and constructed by Dondlinger Construction.
“We are thrilled to open our doors and bring the Goodwill experience to residents in this area,” said Laura Ritterbush, President/CEO of Goodwill Industries of Kansas. “With the opening of this retail store, Goodwill will be able to provide additional workforce development and education programs to those in need. As with our other Goodwill locations, community support through donations and shopping will help change lives.”
To honor its commitment to Veterans in the Wichita area, Goodwill will launch a special round-up campaign at the grand opening. Beginning with the grand opening and continuing through March, 100% of all funds raised during the campaign will be donated to the Wichita Vet Center, furthering Goodwill’s mission to support those who have served our country.
Goodwill’s retail stores are the backbone of its mission to transform lives and communities through the power of education, training, and employment. In 2024 alone, Goodwill Industries of Kansas delivered more than 4,500 program services, creating meaningful change for individuals and families across the state.
“By shopping and donating at Goodwill, the community is supporting individuals with disabilities and barriers,” said Goodwill Chief Mission Officer, Chris Stanyer. “Programs like NexStep Alliance offer GED instruction for those pursuing a Kansas high school diploma, as well as English Language and Citizenship integration classes for English language learners – programs that empower Kansans to reach their fullest potential.”
The ceremony will kick-off the event with brief remarks from Goodwill leadership and local elected officials as well as a ribbon cutting. Festivities for the day include giveaways, prizes, a food truck, and a special appearance by Santa. The public is invited to join the Goodwill community in celebrating and to see firsthand how their support helps transform lives.
