If you asked my close friends to describe my style, you’d probably get a lot of different descriptors as I tend to change looks a lot, however one thing that you probably wouldn’t hear much is casual. Although the pandemic has certainly shifted my style into the casual-wear realm (did anyone else purchase a ridiculous amount of jogger sweats in the last two years or was that just me lol?), I tend to be extra to my core, even in more casual outfits.
Denim is one of those fashion things that tend to fall in the “get you a girl who can do both” category of clothing; can be casual/can be dressy. Since I’m about that extra life, I tend to wear my denim with a little flair, which is why I was super excited to find a couple of pieces at Goodwill to add to a cute pair of jeans from my existing wardrobe.
I love a high-waisted pair of jeans and I’ve been particularly obsessed with a tucked in top paired with those high-waisted jeans. Sometimes however, with my denim, it can be hard to tuck a shirt in without out adding weird bumps to the waistline. Thankfully my problem was solved by a recent Goodwill Derby find; a mock-neck, black, ribbed body suit. Since the body suit snaps into place, I don’t have to worry about my shirt moving around and creating unnecessary bulk at the waist of my jeans. This top has become an absolute wardrobe staple which is excellent considering it was only $3.99!
One of my favorite layering pieces is a long cardigan/duster; it’s such a classic look and an easy way to pull an outfit together. This beautiful, cream cardigan was an absolute steal at the Derby Goodwill for $6.99 (I’m familiar with the brand this is from, Fashion to Figure, and this cardigan usually runs closer to $70). I love how soft and cozy the wool-like material is and the slight puff in the sleeves towards the cuffs add a nice style element!
I added a long chain and a statement ring for jewelry, with a pair of classic black Chelsea boots to complete the look. I love the way it turned out! I never know what wardrobe favorites I’m going to find at Goodwill which is why I love shopping there. Happy Hunting!
