KAKE Wins for Kansas Honors Goodwill Industries

(KAKE) – Goodwill Industries aims to provide opportunities to people with disabilities and barriers to employment by helping them with adult education, GED completion, and even getting into college.

“It’s an overwhelmingly positive response. The individuals that we work with are so grateful that there are resources available to help them get where they want to go,” said Chris Stanyer, vice president of career services.

Even helping people who have been incarcerated, get reentered back into society.

“We’ve literally had people in tears, thanking us for the opportunity to take another step outside of a realm of uncertainty and to provide some direction and a sense of purpose,” said Stanyer.

By donating and shopping at Goodwill stores, you help to fulfill those goals.

“Every time an individual goes into a Goodwill retail store and either donates or purchases something, what they are really doing is giving us just a little piece of love saying, ‘look the community is important to us so we want to contribute.’ And those dollars are used to fuel the mission that gives back to the community,” said Stanyer.

To help with that mission, KAKE TV and DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers are honored to have them as this week’s, Wins for Kansas.

“The DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers wants to congratulate Goodwill Industries. Thank you for the great work you do helping people find jobs and grow their careers. We’re excited to name you as this week’s Wins for Kansas award recipient,” said Dustin DeVaughn of DeVaughn James Injury Lawyers.

“I would like to say thank you to KAKE and DeVaughn James for the Wins for Kansas award. And these dollars are going to go towards efforts to provide opportunities for individuals with disabilities and barriers to employment. Thank you very much, this is going to make a big difference in a lot of lives,” said Stanyer.
