Mother’s Day Finds

Spring is in the air and I couldn’t be happier about it! The great thing about grey Kansas winters is how wonderful they make all the colors look when everything starts to bloom. Springtime fashions are always so much fun to put together, and since Mother’s Day is just around the corner, I asked my beautiful Mom to be my model this month. We hit the sale racks and put together some really cute looks for you!

Our first look was a periwinkle blue breezy cotton blouse paired with a crisp white pair of capri’s. The blue was a great color on my mom (and p.s. I’m don’t think I’ve ever seen anyone look bad in periwinkle so try it out if you haven’t ?) and the white capri’s were the perfect stark contrast to make the look feel put together, but still casual. Next, we found a really cute pair of strappy wedges to dress the outfit up a little and finished the look with some bright blue tear-drop gem earrings.

The next piece we found was a bright and modern sundress in a beautiful deep orange color with white floral accents. My favorite part about this dress was the three-quarter sleeves that tied at the end; they were an unexpected addition that made the dress feel unique. We added some dark grey heels with jewel accents and matched them with a dark grey necklace and earrings to complete the outfit.

Our next look was probably my favorite! My Mom pulled this really bright yellow blouse to try on – which she felt unsure about at first. I think her words were “I don’t want to look like an Easter Egg” ? BUT sometimes you have to give a blouse a chance and try it on before you make the final call – and I’m really glad we did! The fit on this blouse was perfect on my Mom! The lace edging was so flattering, and paired against the white capri’s, it really stood out well. We finished this look with a pretty moonstone necklace, earrings, and brown wedge heels.

Our final look came together with a little bling! We picked up a very “blingy” necklace during our shopping trip; not quite sure what we would pair it with, but we really wanted to use it somewhere. As we were putting looks together for the photo shoot, the airy floral blouse accented so nicely with the statement bling necklace! We paired them with the white capri’s and a cute pair of leather wedge sandals, and the end result was a dressy outfit ready for a spring day out in town!

A big thank you to my Mom for being an excellent model this month, and for teaching the ways of Goodwill shopping in the first place! A happy spring to all my readers and I’ll catch you here next month for some great men’s fashion looks!
