The Simple and Savvy New Year’s Closet

Happy New Year to all my fellow Goodwill friends!

If you’re like me, a new year means a chance to freshen up your routines, menu and closet – out with the old and in with the new! One thing that has felt really important to me lately is to live simply with things I need and enjoy. That goes for my closet, too. This month, I recruited my sister-in-law, Candise, to help me find some multipurpose looks that help me keep my closet simple and still look amazing!

Our first great find was a streamlined leather jacket. The fit was great on Candise, and the gray color worked so well with so many things!

I wanted to put together a blouse and jean combination, but instead of shopping the long sleeve blouses, we went to the short sleeve section. A great tip for shopping your local Goodwill is to always look through all the “seasons” of clothes. Sometimes you can find great pieces in the offseason just because not too many people are looking for summer clothes in January.

We found a coral, coldshoulder blouse that will be cute for the summer, but ALSO works perfectly in the winter under our leather jacket. We paired the blouse with dark wash jeans from J.Crew that were a perfect fit on Candise.

Our next look put that jacket to work again, this time with a summer dress, re-purposed for chilly weather. In this look, we matched a jersey knit dress with leggings and a pair of knee high gray leather boots.

The next outfit is so cozy, with a pop of color! We found a beautiful knit cardigan, with deep turquoise in the pattern, then came across these great suede heels in the same bright turquoise color. The great part about this look is being able to wear those happy heels to brighten up your look in the winter months. We paired them with our same J.Crew jeans from the first look, and Candise was ready for a cozy winter coffee date – cute and comfy!

Our last look doesn’t re-purpose anything, I just loved it, so I’m adding it to show you! We found this flowy, nostalgic polka-dot skirt, and paired it with a bright yellow cardigan for a vintage throwback look that is so classy. It was the cherry on top to find matching polka dot heels. Throw on some pearls and a add perfectly contrasting front porch, and you get June Cleaver meets 2019!

Thanks for reading and shopping friends. I can’t wait to catch up with you next month!
