Late Summer Styles

image description

Hey all! Kansas summers may be hot, but that mild wind-down from August through September is just beautiful! Thunderstorms, breezy days, and the summer sun to keep it all warm and cozy. As much as I love fall fashions, I had to take one more blog to put together some pretty summer looks, and my sweet, beautiful sister-in-law helped me out!

The first look we put together was centered around a lightweight, cotton, cold shoulder blouse in a floral print. This look just reminds me of a summer night at the state fair! Helen paired it with distressed skinny jeans and sandals. Also – the cold shoulder trend is such a winner! My favorite way to wear it is with a flowy, romantic fabric; one to try if you haven’t yet!

The next look is so classy for the office! We paired a fitted black and white patterned top with a black pencil skirt and gold accents. My favorite part of the look is actually the stacked gold bangles. I just bought a whole bunch of individual gold-colored bracelets and stacked them together to give the look an elegant but casual flair with just a touch of gypsy!

Next up, the romper! Man – I love this trend too! I know rompers aren’t everybody’s cup of tea, but they can be so cute! When we found this one at the Andover store, I had imagined pairing it with some black wedges and dressing it up a bit – but Helen had the idea to go with a more casual look and wear some converse sneakers – and I love it! Another great thing about fashion – everybody does it differently, and you can always find new fun things to try.

This next dress is SO cute and – IT HAS POCKETS! That’s always a win in my book! One thing I love about this dress is how the color just brings out Helen’s natural skin tones. I think it can be kind of scary to try wearing a color that is similar to your natural coloring, but sometimes – if you find just the right tone – it can really just make your skin glow! I used to be a portrait artist major in college, and you would not believe how many different colors are in the undertones of every person’s unique coloring! Finding just the right blends that “look good on you” is really just like painting a beautiful picture. So don’t be afraid to try those hues that you may have avoided before.

The last dress is probably my favorite! The fitted cream top is such a great contrast to the flowy, abstract hemline. And the pale pink skirt was another color win for Helen! If you have tan skin at all, please go buy something in pale pink right now! It looks amazing on you! We paired the dress with this cool, chunky statement necklace, and again, the contrast between the sweet romantic tones of the dress and the punky, edgy lines of the necklace are a really fun play.

Ok – we found so much more good stuff, but I’ll stop writing your ear off now! Thank you to Helen for making all these clothes look wowza! And thank you for reading this month! Happy shopping! See you next month for my birthday!
