Goodwill Industries of Kansas opens first Goodwill Store Utilizing Consignment Concept

WICHITA, KAN. –The Gray Willow Fashion Exchange will open in Towne West Square Friday, Sept 1 at 10 a.m. A ribbon cutting ceremony will take place just before the public opening, at 9:50 a.m.

Gray Willow features high-quality women’s and men’s clothing, shoes, accessories, handbags and household decor. This store is the country’s first-ever Goodwill sponsored consignment store which will benefit mission services and programs. Goodwill hopes to offer the community the opportunity to make money on their clothing while supporting the Goodwill mission.

Goodwill stores have long accepted donated items and resold them to generate funding for programs that provide education and job training to individuals with developmental disabilities and other employment barriers. Existing Goodwill Retail Store operations will not be effected by this store’s addition and customers will continue to find high-quality, brand names in Goodwill stores.

“We had a weekend pop-up sale in May that was a great success,” said Goodwill Industries’ VP of Retail Operations Angela Bascue. “The opportunity to make Gray Willow an ongoing store came at the right time for Goodwill and we are excited to be able to help the community support the mission in new ways.”

Consignors set prices for the items and will earn up to 50% for each of their sold items minus a $10 consignor fee. Consignors will be accepted ongoing and can register and learn more at graywillowfashion.com.

The store will be open during mall hours each Friday through Sunday, with select items half-price on the final weekend of each month. Employees will staff the store Thursday’s to accept consignors drop-offs.
