Spring Fashion Show Features Women’s and Children’s Looks

image description

Hi Everyone! This past week I got to participate in the Goodwill Spring Fashion show which was held at the Maize and Andover Goodwill locations. It was so much fun to work with my models to put together some fun looks for spring – and even more fun because I wrangled all of my family into being my models!

For this month’s blog, I thought I would show you some of the looks that we put together at Goodwill, and some hints and tips along the way.

Layered Floral Dress

My sweet Mom is first up! She chose a pretty, bright, summer dress in a satin finish. She complemented the dress with beige accessories including a structured purse by St. John’s Bay and cute wedges by ALDO. The bright colors complement her skin tone and the cut of this dress is just perfect on her. The layered look gives a sleek, put-together feel to the outfit, and the length is flattering. The total cost for this look was just around $25.

Structured Denim Jacket

Next is the matriarch of our family, my Grandma Marie!  We started this look with a great jacket that we found in a dark navy denim. The structured look of the jacket really complemented my Grandma’s small frame. My Grandma is a fan of beige, so she paired the jacket with a beige knit cardigan, beige pumps and some comfy but casual khaki pants. Her purse and jewelry added a little touch of sparkle and finished the outfit off! The total cost for this look was just under $35.

Casual and Neutral-Toned Outfit

Up next is my pretty Aunt Shawna. She started with a pair of pale, peach pants. She paired the look with a short sleeve jacket in brown, which is a really great color for her.

The blouse, featuring both peach and brown colors, pulled the look together. The total cost for this look was just around $23, shoes included.

Tip: Sometimes it’s fun to wear the same colors found your complexion and hair. Usually, they will be a great look on you.

 Comfy Knit Dress

My cute cousin Caris was next to take the runway! She kept it casual in a comfy knit dress by Old Navy paired with black patent leather flip flops and a cute black clutch. The color was a great choice for her complexion and hair color. This total look came to just $15.

Tip: If you have lighter skin tone, don’t shy away from deep, dramatic colors. They are a good balance against lighter tones and are usually a safe choice.

Vintage Yellow Children’s Dress

Our next model, my little girl Livia, got to help me with a fashion show for the first time. She wore a yellow dress, paired with white sandals, Minnie Mouse sunglasses, and her favorite Goodwill find to date, a Hello Kitty purse. Bright colors are always a fun look for kids in the spring and summer – and this dress was a particularly great find. It was in such great shape, I thought it was brand new! After a little research, I found out it was an actual vintage piece. The total cost for this look was about $9.

Teal Sundress with Casual Accessories

Finally, my own look for the fashion show. I started with this cute teal sundress and decided to put a casual spin on it with accessories. I paired it with a cropped jean jacket and a cute pair of matching sunglasses. I added wooden beads and topaz drop earrings. My favorite find were the Ugg shoes , which were brand new and super comfy.  I bought them for $25 at Goodwill. After a little research, I found out that they retail for about $90! The total cost for this look was around $33.

We had such a fun time at the fashion show this year. Thank you to everyone who shopped and cheered us on. Hopefully we will see you again soon on the runway!
