Congratulations to Julie Close, Goodwill’s 2016 Manager of the Year, and her store, Twin Lakes, Goodwill’s 2016 Store of the Year! They were honored at the Goodwill Annual Celebration on October 13. Read more about the event and our other honorees.
Julie came to Goodwill to manage a Goodwill store in August 2009. But it wasn’t until November of last year that she moved to the Twin Lakes store that was in need of major help! She hired and trained several new team members to join the long-time employees at that store and in the very first month she was in the Twin Lakes store, sales increased 30.0%.
Twin Lakes experienced a more than 30%, increase in total sales over last year, while decreasing expenses by 9.5%. The store had been costing the agency money, and is now a strong performer with a 22% gross margin. With the management of Julie Close and assistant management of Shane Shotwell, Twin Lakes was able to claim the award of the 2016 Store of the Year.
