Spicing Up Riverfest for 30th Year

image description

More than 160 volunteers and thousands of festivalgoers celebrated Goodwill’s 30th year of Cajun Food Fest on June 9 at the Wichita River Festival! New partner Corporate Caterers prepared traditional Louisiana favorites including shrimp gumbo, chicken etouffee, red beans and sausage, and a bread pudding dessert topped with a decadent bourbon custard sauce – a crowd favorite. It was a lively night as the Cajun mascot passed out Mardi Gras beads and danced with people waiting to enjoy their favorites from the Bayou. Together, we raised more than $18,000 to support Goodwill programs that provide education and job training opportunities to people with disabilities and other barriers to employment.

Special thank you to our Premier Sponsor Westar Energy. Additional support provided by Don & Lora Barry, Corporate Caterers, Capitol Federal, Foulston Siefkin, KWCH and KSCW, KEYN, The Buzz, and The Spice Merchant. Corporate volunteers included Westar Energy, Capitol Federal, KWCH Meteorologist Ross Janssen, Slumberland Furniture, Textron Aviation, Foulston Siefkin LLP and Intrust Bank.
