FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
WICHITA, KANSAS (June 1, 2015) – Local chefs will gather on Thursday to prepare traditional Louisiana cuisine for Goodwill Industries’ 29th annual Cajun Food Fest. Meals will be served in front of Century II at Kennedy Plaza 5:00-8:30 p.m. Thursday, June 4, 2015. For nearly three decades, Goodwill Industries of Kansas has teamed up with the Wichita Chapter of the American Culinary Federation to host the official Wichita Riverfest event.
“Coming down to Cajun Food Fest is a great way to support the Wichita Riverfest and Goodwill Industries,” said Molly Fox, Vice President of Marketing & Development. “You will enjoy authentic Cajun food, live music and a fun atmosphere – the best part is that the proceeds will help people right here in Kansas gain education and jobs.”
Meals are $8.00 and include chicken etoufee, red beans and sausage, shrimp gumbo with rice and a French bread roll. Bread pudding is available for dessert for an additional $3.00, or you can buy both for $10.00. Proceeds will be used to advance the mission of Goodwill Industries of Kansas. Entertainment provided by Wichita Riverfest features bands Big Red Horse, Monophonics and Charles Bradly & His Extraordinaires beginning at 5:30 p.m. A Riverfest button is required to enter Kennedy Plaza and can be purchased on site. In addition, on Thursday only, any official Riverfest button from the past will be honored for admission as part of “Throwback Thursday.”
The premier sponsor for this year’s Cajun Food Fest is Westar Energy. Additional support has been provided by Don and Lora Barry, Bank of America Foundation, Foulston Siefkin, KEYN and KWCH/KSCW. Volunteers from across the city will be serving up the meals. Event details are also available at goodwillks.org/cajun.
