On Friday, August 2nd, the Westar Energy Foundation presented a check for $5,000 to our Education and Training Services Center. Westar’s contribution will support our services, which offer adults the opportunity to reach their educational and employment goals through assistance with GED preparation and completion, career counseling and transition into post-secondary education.

Since its inception in 1990, the Westar Energy Foundation has awarded more than $13 million to civic and charitable organizations dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for Kansans. The foundation targets youth and education, and supports programs that encourage youths to stay in school and develop to their full potential, promote STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) education, develop workforce skills and enhance personal development to successfully participate in our society and improve the communities in which they live.
The Goodwill Education and Training Services program provided GED preparation assistance to over 1,200 individuals in 2012, of which 254 individuals graduated the program after earning their Kansas High School Diploma.
